Basic Course: The Bible Through Young Eyes    
[national level: 1 wk; local level: 60 hrs]

Participants:    Young adults and advisers who have completed the Initiation Course in Pastoral Juvenil (56 hrs), Catechist Certification (40 hrs), or an equivalent level of pastoral studies

Overview of the program

•  Becoming familiar with the Bible: why and how
•  Basis for a Catholic interpretation of the Bible
•  Features and support materials in La Biblia Católica para Jóvenes
•  Biblical ministry: what it is and how to promote it among the young
•  Approaches and responses to the Word of God: analyzing the text and applying it in real life utilizing themes related to the life and concerns of youth and young adults, for example:
•  Migration and mobility in the light of Exodus and the exile
•  The Reign of God and its context in the Old Testament
•  The prophets and the prophetic role of young people
•  The human body and sexuality in the Song of Songs
•  Miracles: their context and interpretation
•  Importance and meaning of the parables of Jesus
•  Jewish Passover, Christian Easter, and the Eucharist
•  Mary in the Bible and in our own life
•  Patriarchy, the role of women, and Jesus’ relationship with women

Training of Trainers for Biblical Ministry with Young People   
[national level: 1 wk; local level: 60 hrs]

Participants:    Pastoral ministers with organizational experience, teaching skills, and an advanced level of biblical formation

Overview of the program

•  Biblical ministry: what it is and how to promote it among the young
•  Features and support materials in La Biblia Católica para Jóvenes
•  The overall approach, themes, and educational processes of “The Bible Through Young Eyes”
•  Practice teaching selected themes of the course
•  Analysis of the biblical literacy of youth and planning feasible and effective responses
